I enjoyed meeting Jason, who hails originally from western North Carolina and moved here about 5 years ago. I couldn't help oogling his camera equipment; I tried to be discreet about it. Until such time that I am able to update, I will remain happy with my Canon Rebel.
I am definitely weary. After today's ride, the days remaining dropped down into the teens and that definitely helps make it feel as if the end of the journey is very close. After all the extensive riding in October and November to put in the miles to get closer to 10,000, I am most definitely looking forward to 1 January 2012 when I can put all biking and blogging out of my mind - at least for a couple of days! It has been a wonderful journey but the body does cry out for rest.
So, what do we have here?
Some interesting celestial event? A microscopic look at cellular activity? How about a baking pan that was used to cook chicken wings. A coating had formed on the pan from the oil and dry rub mixture (sugar, salt, paprika, garlic powder and pepper) and I poured hot water over it to loosen it. This was the film that resulted from the hot water being poured on.
Coming back from the produce run from Community Meals, I forgot to stop at the UPS Store and drop off a package. I wasn't too happy about back-tracking, what with nerves having been worn thin. I tried to make the best of it; after all, it was only adding 10 minutes to my trip home. And, on the way there, I passed a pasture with a horse standing very still. Maybe if it's still in that pose when I get back, I'll stop and take it's picture.
It was, and I looked for a place to turn around and park. I happened into a church parking lot where a woman, with her grandson by her side, was changing a tire. I pulled up next to her and asked if she needed some help. Yes, She couldn't get the lug nuts off. I stopped and managed to get them loose and stayed to help finish getting the spare on. I tried talking with the grandson, who was about three, but he was very shy. However, when I was leaving, he did wave goodbye.
The horse had moved, so, no picture of that equine. Instead, a picture of the woman and her grandson, moving happily on down the road. I guess there was a reason I forgot to drop off the package the first time.
Back on the ride: Passing through a neighborhood with Christmas decorations lying flat on lawns, waiting to be inflated. On this one yard, a dog lay so quiet and still, it seemed as if he was waiting to be inflated along with the decorations.
This was the best I could get of this mother and calf through the barbed wire and brush. A moment later, my presence had the mother moving to safer ground.
